They are my constant companion, since they not only hold all of my necessities, but also make a great color statement and accessorize wonderfully any outfit I am wearing.

Because my Laurel Burch Tote Bags are with me all the time, they travel through the same daily grind and grime that I experience, and this collects on the bag. Usually, it is the handles and the bottom of my Tote Bags that seem to show the dirt quickest, and I have come up with the solutions for cleaning my Totes.

So, the question is, How do I Clean My Laurel Burch Tote Bag? I use different methods for the different parts of the bags that seem to be needing a spruce up.

Here are my trade secrets on how to clean my Laurel Burch Tote Bag handles. My hands are often dry, so I apply hand lotion often, and the Tote Bag Handles seem to collect the excess oils. The best way to clean oil stains on your Laurel Burch Tote Bag is to first, using an old toothbrush, rub baking soda directly on the handles, getting the baking soda into the fibers of the handle with the toothbrush. Next, make a runny paste from baking soda and dish soap. Apply to the area on the handles that have the baking soda rubbed in, and rub this paste in with the toothbrush. Let it sit for an hour or so, and rinse thoroughly with cold water. Be sure to let the handles air dry completely before using your bag, preferably 24 hours of drying.

The bottom of your Laurel Burch tote bag comes into contact with a bit of everything. The best way to clean the bottom of body of your tote is to spot clean just the area that has the stain. Dab gentle Woolite or a detergent that is used for washing baby clothes (a very gentle detergent) on a damp washcloth or sponge. Gently press the cloth on the surface of your Tote bag, pressing at the stain to get the gentle cleaning solution into the stain. Allow the solution to sit for about 20 minutes. Using a damp clean cloth, blot the area to get the soap out. Daub the area surrounding the stained area to 'feather' the dampness over a larger area. Then blot the entire damp area with a clean dry cloth to aid in drying it. Let it air dry for 24 hours to ensure it drys completely before using.

The inside of your tote bag typically gets pen and pencil markings, and dust flakes build up in the crevices. For the dust buildup, just turn your tote upside down and gently shake your bag. For the pen markings, use a q-tip saturated with rubbing alcohol. Rub on the stain with the alcohol, let it set for about 10 minutes, and then use a clean damp cloth to rub the area clean. Repeat if necessary.

Use these three tips on How to Clean Your Laurel Burch Tote Bag to keep your Tote beautiful so you can share the joy of Laurel Burch Artwork wherever you go.
